Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

the rights against detectives contacting your home once charged

The detectives who arrested me and charged me with two criminal offenses repeatedly contacted my house through my home number after i was released from jail even though i did not answer any questions they had, nor did i sign or agree to work with them in any way. A week later after i had been released from jail, i already had obtained my attorney for this case, the leading detective still called my house from various random numbers as well as his cellphone #. Is that legal for the detective(s) to contact a defendant in their case like that?

Let your attorney know right away. If he can't answer your question, fire him and get somebody else.

Good luck.

Once you were represented by counsel, the police are barred from contacting you. You would need to show that the police had notice of your intent to hire counsel. After you say "I'm getting a lawyer", the police cannot ask you anything.
