Re: sex crimes

Don't be so negative: who says there will be any jail term? They have to charge you and convict you first. If you have had consensual sex with a minor you may or may not be in legal trouble.

If he or she is less than 15 and you are at least 4 years older, you're in trouble (if a complaint is made). If he or she is 15 or 16 and you are at least 10 years older, you are in trouble.

If you are in fact charged, you would not do badly to hire either Mr. Savela or Mr. Milavitz, who I know by reputation are fine attorneys. If you cannot afford these fine attorneys, because you are indigent, you should know that Colorado's public defenders (who will defend you for free) are among the nation's best.

Good luck to you, and if you haven't been charged, let your friend grow up a little before another sexual encounter with you.

Re: sex crimes

there are lots of variables that are very important to the answer, but:

assuming you are an adult (over 18 yo)

if child is under 15 and you are 4 or more years older, then you are likely looking at life in prison or life time supervision on probation or parole

if child is under 18 and you are a coach, teacher, babysitter or otherwise in a parental type role, even momentarily, even on a day other than when having sex, then life in prison or life probation or parole

if child is 15-17, and you are 10 years older, then likely misdemeanor with up to 2 years jail

BTW - sex includes any kind of touching of the primary or secondary sex organs, even over the clothes and does not require penetration of any kind

Please contact me with your specific facts for better information.

Re: sex crimes

It depends on what exactly what crime you are charged with. This is extremely serious and you could possibly recieve a life sentence. The best advice I can give you is get an attorney immediately, one who has experience in these type of cases, as I do. Good luck.
