Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

My son has a assult charge againt him from a friend grandmother from playing around that ended up burning his friend..friend didn't want to press charged but grandmother did...ok my son is going to own up to his mistake for playing around..friends sister wrote him on face book screaming at my son in caps..local cop said it was a freedom of speech..I would like to know if that is true or can I press charges on her for harrasment.

Here is the best answer and advice I can give you based on the information.

Do not have your son respond to anything on facebook. Let people say whatever they want to him. But he cannot respond while charges are pending - this can be used as evidence against him. The police man is not entirely correct about freedom of speech. There are options for you in defending you son and filing suit on the friends sister.
