Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
Theft under $10
I recently had a case where part of the punishment for theft under $10 was to pay back the victim for the stolen goods. The victim (McGuckins Hardware) is trying to charge me $100 for some reason. Do I have to pay all $100 back, or just the $10?

Re: Theft under $10
To avoid difficulties, yes. Many stores charge a theft fee of about 100 in these cases. I have heard of challenging these fees, but no one has paid me to do it yet. If you do not pay it, McGuckins will definitely trespass you from the store, if they haven't already.
