Time To File Charges
If you have been arrested for theft, how long does the person or company have to press charges? If no charges are brought up what happens to your record?

Re: Time To File Charges
Thanks for your posting. There is a one year statute of limitations for most MISDEMEANOR charges, a THREE year and SEVEN year statute of limitations for most FELONY charges, and for some serious crimes, like murder, an unlimited statute of limitations. Anytime you are arrested you will have an arrest record but you can get a certificate of release clarifying that no charges have been pressed.
