Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

Trespass

Knocked on door, door was opened. After entry, resident then requested my departure, which I did immediately. After leaving the apartment complex, police pulled me over.

I was advised that I could have been arrested for trespassing but the resident decided not to press charges at that time.

Can the resident press charges at another time for this incident? Or does he have to press charges at time of police arriving & taking a report?

Is there a ''time frame'' in which a person has to press charges once police are called & take a report (i.e 24 hrs, 1 week, 1 month later)
