Vandalism of Government vehicles
Hello,
I have a nephew (age is 23) who has admitted to me that he got angry at life and decided to take it out on somebody. So he did. He went through a parking lot at a local diner popping tires with his knife. If this wasn't bad enough several of the cars were government vehicles. Two belonged to Caltrans and one was from FEMA. There were a total of twelve cars damaged.
So what kind of charges can he expect to face when he turns himself in. What is the absolutely worst case scenario? Tell me the worst so that I can hope for better.

Certainly charges of vandalism and wanton property destruction spring to mind. Misdemeanors, but probably deserving of jail time under the circumstances.
Why is he turning himself in?
