Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
I was working as a volunteer tonight at a hockey game to help raise money for my son's high school band. It was only my second time and the first time I had worked at this location and in the capacity of a snack bar cashier. Alcohol is served there and I had gone through the alcohol training course approximately 6-8 weeks earlier but have no experience in this area. On my second alcohol purchase of the night, the customer was clearly young and I checked her ID but read it wrong (she was 20 but my brain told me she was 22 as I was learning a multitude of new things at once). Within a minute or so a man identifying himself as a police officer informed me I had just served alcohol to a minor and I was taken away and given a citation and court date for this. The minor was working with the police in this case. I'd like to know what I can expect in the way of fines and charges against me. I live in Colorado and work with kids in other volunteer positions that require background checks. Am I ruined?

The penalty will depend on your record, what jurisdiction you are charged in, and if you were charged with a municipal ordinance violation, or a state criminal violation.
Typically, most places will work with you, and the end result will usually involve taking a class on proper service and a fine.
