bond
I bonded someone and they are not going to show up for court. They have left the state. The bondsman told me that the only way I can get out of paying them $10,000.00 is if and when he doesn't show up, we can ask the DA to make his warrant a nationwide warrant. This way he could be picked up. His offense was driving with a revoked license due to a dwai. I am a single mom, teacher, with two kids I don't have that kind of money. My question is am I doing everything I need to be doing? Do I need to get a lawyer for myself? I have no problem with getting him arrested, but I need to make sure I can get this done. He has gone completely back on his agreement with me. Please let me know what my next course of action should be, to get myself out of this situation. Thanks

Re: bond
well, it is all spelled out in the bonding contract so review that -
I would somehow document your efforts to alert the bondsman that the defendant is going to violate the bond, that way the bondsman cannot later say you did nothing to fix the problem or worse - that you helped
the best thing for you is for this person to be put in custody of the bondsman or the police
Re: bond
A lawyer won't be of much use in getting him arrested; you'd be better off hiring a bounty hunter. Unfortunately you put your money on the line for this jerk, and if you have any way of contacting him, you should do your best to persuade him to come back. And if you do know, or learn, where he is, put your children first and let the police know. Good luck.
