Corp liability for drinking alcohol in the workplace
If an employer has a social event in the workplace and alcohol is served, does the employer minimize their liability if it requests the employees to sign a waiver releasing the corporation from any liability should that employee have an automobile accident after consuming alcohol in the workplace?

Tis the season for alcohol and driving.
It would be better for the corporation not to provide alcohol or allow it to be served, but that does not make for much merriment. All waivers can help somewhat, but the party that needs to sign the waiver is the person one of your employees hits with their car.
I suggest that you have them sign the waiver. That the waiver says in Bold letters at the top "Do not Drink and Drive." I suggest that you have at least one sober person monitoring people at the party to suggest they not drive. I suggest that you have the name and telephone number of 2 cab companies posted.
The more you can do to avoid people drinking and driving, the less you have to worry. There is no way to stop it completely, but you can take steps. It would be an extraordinary tragedy for one of your employees to get hurt or die or to hurt or kill someone else.
If someone gets a DUI, I handle these cases and would be pleased to represent them.
