Pobation officers' ''reasonable inquiry''
I an currently on probation for a DWAI and self employed. I showed my business license for proof of employment. My PO asked for an invoice I send to customers as further/ongoing proof of employment. Is she privy to how much I earn? Is this a ''reasonable inquiry''? I feel that how much I earn and the frequency I get paid has no bearing on my case. Does she have the ''legal'' right/clearance for this type of information? Can I present her with an invoice which lists the products sold but black out my customers name and contact info along with the dollar amounts? She has not been very friendly and I do not want to piss her off and make my probation a nightmare! But I just don't want to roll over and give her everything she wants without questioning the relevance to my case. For the initial intake appointment all she needed was a business license. Why the sudden need for more proof? This is my 1st (and last!) DWAI that rquired 24 hours of community service and level one counseling. Why is she busting my balls? I don't believe this request is ''reasonable'' at all. Do they use the word ''reasonable'' to make it easier for them to jerk me around.

If you feel she is oversteping her bounds, you can raise the issue with the judge.

You may be busting your own balls. You say she asked for an invoice you send to customers as further/ongoing proof of employment. Give her a sample invoice showing what you would charge for a sample project, whether hourly or flat fee.
What's the secret about how much you charge? All your customers know; Maybe she'll buy something from you.
You're on probation, and that comes with a cost, including to certain civil rights you would otherwise have. It won't last forever.
