Probation Violation - Revokation Hearing Scheduled
I was convicted of a DUI with a BAC over.2 in april of 2003. I was sentenced and received 10 days jailtime (spent at home monitored), community service, DUI education + therapy, Victim Impact Panel and weekly monitoring via breathalizer. I was to have finished my probation on april 1 2004, but forgot about the impact panel and I still have 6 hours of therapy left. I am attending a victim impact panel later today, and currently have 6 hours of therapy left and will finish that in the begining of may. I didn't complete classes as I went out of town a lot and had to miss some which extended the time to finish them. I received a letter stating i have to go to court at the end of may and was wondering what the consequences will be since I will have finished everything, altho 1 month after i was supposed to. should i get a lawyer? I will be meetng with my probation officer later on this month to see what she says since I will be finished before the court date.

It depends which judge you have. Having a lawyer could help.

Technically you could be found to be in violation and be sentenced for a probation violation. If, however, you are this close to being done, there is a decent chance that probation could just be extended for a period of time in order to let you comply (though this could be done in the context of a probation violation). It does depend in a large part on which judge presides, and, probably more importantly, who the DA is that is handling the case. You may want to consider getting representation because a person can be sentenced to jail for probation violations.
