First time Drunk Driving

You probably do not need a lawyer for your first appearance on this case, but you should contact a lawyer before entering a plea (or going to trial). DA's sometimes give lousy deals to unrepresented people because they can. They certainly will not inform you of winning facts in your case. In addition, your driving privileges will be affected and you may be interested in challenging the DMV revocation. All of this can be done by a competent DUI attorney, but many things can be missed by without one.
