Legal Question in Education Law in Colorado
Student Loan
My question is regarding a student loan. They say that I took out a student loan in the 80's. I only went to college for 1 semster and that was in 2003 and I paid for the classes myself. They say the only way to get rid of the loan on my credit and stop them from holding my taxes is to pay it in full. How do I get them to set up payments that I can afford so that I can get rid of the loan and be able to get the help I need to attend college?

Re: Student Loan
First of all, do you owe the loan? Did you take out a loan in the '80s that you haven't repaid. Second, who is the bank/credit agency that has this loan? Is it for a lot of money? It is rare that they take your tax for this, unless it is large or something else is involved.
Whoever it is usually will set up payments if you ask. You may want to check into what exactly it is that you are paying, though, if you haven't heard from them since the '80s.
