Legal Question in Education Law in Colorado

student threat of bodily harm against another student

What is the responsibility of school officials when a threat of bodily harm is made to a student from another student in the form of a 5 page letter and given to that student in school? What are my rights and where do I go when the school principal does nothing?

Re: student threat of bodily harm against another student

As a former Teacher, and also a former School Board Member, I can tell you that the Administration has an affirmative duty to investigate, and take action to protect their students if necessary. If they take no action, you could go directly to the Board of Education to resolve the matter, and this will, without a doubt get the H.S. Administrator's attention too.
