I am old with some assets. Should I hire an elder lawyer or an estates lawyer?

It depends on your goals, though an estate planning attorney typically overlaps with an elder law attorney. An elder law attorney helps people plan to preserve assets when receiving medicaid long term care benefits. If that is not your situation, you may just need an estate plan. We offer a free 20 minute initial consultation to discuss your needs if you want to call to discuss further. I hope this helps.
