caring for elderly parents
My grandpa is moving in with my mom. She is having to retire from her job early to help with his care. Can she use some of my grandpa's money to finance his care and take care of some of her household expenses? My grandpa has Alzheimers and is unable to make decisions on his own. I have medical and financial power of attorney for him. Any information on this subject would be appreciated.

Re: caring for elderly parents
What you ask is certainly possible, but would likely require a care contract to avoid possible problems with his ability to receive Medicaid long term care benefits in the future. I suggest you arrange to meet with an Elder Law attorney to advise you on the particulars.
