Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Colorado
voicemail on song?
We recorded a song and used someone's voice from a voicemail sent to my phone. We did not obtain permission from her. She is threatening a civil suit citing copywrite infringement, slander, ect. Does she have a case? We posted the song on a myspace account. She is demanding we remove it. Thank you so much for your help.

Re: voicemail on song?
It's not copyright infringement, per se, as she cannot claim a copyright to her voicemail message, but could be a violation of her right to privacy. Unless you paid her for the use of her voice and obtained a release from her, I would remove it.
