Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

I have had 50/50 custody of my son since 2008. However, his biological father has not seen him, nor had any contact with him since Feb of 2010. I have been receiving $46 a week in child support based on the 50/50 custody, the last thing I was told from his father was he would sign over rights to my son, if I signed something saying he would not be financially responsible for him. If I didn't agree to that, he would not agree to signing over custody to me, or adjusting child support.

What are my options? My son is in high school, and I could really use more financial help from his father, whom has had little to no responsibility as a parent in raising my son.

Your options are to do nothing and keep things the way they are, or to finally take steps to modify custody and support by filing appropriate motions with the court. The smart move would be option 2.
