Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

adjusting child support payments

My ex-husband and I divorces 2 years ago. I am a full time student and work 25 hours per week. We share custody of our 4 year old daughter. He has her 18 days per month, I have her the remainder. I currently pay child support to him. When we settled, the payments were based on my earnings potential, not actual earnings. I make less than half that amount. I do receive financial aid in the form of loans, which all have to be paid back. I would like to lower the payments as I pay almost half of what I make to him. What should I do?

Re: adjusting child support payments

Motion the court to reduce your payments. The court can give you the necessary forms. There may also be an office at the courthouse which helps parties who do not have attorneys.
