Aunt wanting to take nephew from sister on drugs

my sister is using drugs and living in motels and I am very worried about my nephew. I want to call child protective services but I dont know if they will let me and my husband take him since we dont have exactly the best of records but we are certainly better than the situation he is in now!

please help!!!

Regardless of whether Child Protective Services will place the child with you or not, they should probably be notified of the child's current situation, as nothing will change on its own. Regardless of whether a decision is made to place the child with you or not, at least you can get the child out of a potentially dangerous situation. As for your records, they don't need to be perfect, but it will depend on the charges and how long ago they were.
