Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

Back Childsupport

I was divorced in 92 and my ex was ordered to pay child support. He is currently paying but he did not pay for several years. He is $19,900.00 in arrears.

He is currently living In Montana. Our divorce was in Colorado. How can I collect this back child-support he owes? Will this jepordize the support I am now receiving? Would you recommend I try this on my own or get a lawyer?

Also he was ordered to keep insurance on the children he does not have insurance for them .Can the court force him to provide insurance since he's out of the

state. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks

Re: Back Childsupport

There should be an office connected with social services in your county for Child Support Enforcement. They will pursue your child support issues without charge. It will not jeopardize the support you are receiving. Regarding the insurance, you can ask the court to find him in contempt. You may want a lawyer to help you do this.
