change in jurisdiction

my daughter, her x, & her 2 children live in co. her divorce was finalized in fl. she needs to change jurisdiction in order to get free legal aide in co. the free legal aide dept in co says she needs to contact her lawyer in fl, her lawyer in fl says she needs a lawyer in co. free legal aide won't help her until the jurisdiction is changed. she needs some help asap. thanks so much!

She can go to the court in the county she now lives in and ask for the forms to transfer jurisdiction. Alternatively, she can go to www.courts.state.co.us and pull up the form. She will need to fill it out and file it with the Court. She needs to order a Certified Copy of her court file from Florida to attach to it. Once she has filed that, she should be able to move forward, unless the father objects. In that case, the jurisdictional fight will have to be resolved between the courts first.
