Child abandonment

I have a one year old daughter and her real father has only seen her once when she was first born he has never supported her or made any attemps to see her since i am now with a man who helps support her and who is raising her as his own can i get her father with abandonment to gain sole custody or does he still have rights to her

Re: Child abandonment

Unless the biological father's parental rights are terminated, there can be no legal adoption. An action must be filed with the court and notice given to the birth father either directly or by publication. This is a technical area and you will require legal representation.

What you seek can be done, but it will take time and court action to accomplish it.
