Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

child support combined with social security

I have been receiving child support for 7 yrs. My daughter (age 7) is receiving social security from her dad who is still alive, for about a year and also received back pay for previous years. Recently the father went to child support for a review and was told he no longer has to pay child support because my daughter is receiving social security. Is this something that is legal considering the social security is sent to her in her name? Thank you in advance for any direction in this matter.

sincerely,

Re: child support combined with social security

It's highly unlikely that the court would modify child support or terminate child support without your input. Request a copy of the Order stating that he no longer has to pay child support, and if there actually is such an order out there, you should probably have it analyzed by an attorney to determine your possible appeal options.

Hope this helps!
