Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado
Child support and Self Employment
I found a law that states if you are self employed your income is based on monies left for personal use. The child support agency is using my gross income. After business expenses there is a $36,000 difference. I am not sure if they are correct? Can you please give me some insight?

The proper number to use in this situation is the net income for the business (assuming it is not a partnership, in which case it would a percentage of net income proportionate to your percentage of ownership). The gross income for the business is an incorrect number to use in this situation.
