Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

Divorce Rights

Do I have options with an ex husband who defaulted a loan I cosigned and now refuses to pay? In the divorce papaerwork he took 100% responsibility for it.

Re: Divorce Rights

Yes, though not necessarily the ones you want. At least here in Colorado. You can pursue him in small claims court or county court to collect on the debt for reimbursement for any amounts you paid. You can also pursue him within the divorce case for contempt of court. Both options can be helpful. Unfortunately, neither one can help you make the lender just call him and leave you alone. You will still be liable to the lender until it is paid or refinanced in his name only. Your recourse is in the form of pursuing him for reimbursement for any amounts you may pay to protect your own credit rating.

If you are interested, I can help you with either or both of these options.
