Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado
Entering out of state orders and getting enforced
We have a Michigan court order demanding the return of my husbands 2 year old son. The mom took the child to Colorado over a year ago. We had a hard time finding her. So she had been in CO for about 7 months before we got the order. But in the origional order it stated she was not to move more than 100 miles away with the child. She has been ignoreing every court order and is under the impression she does not have to listen to MI courts because she is in CO. We did get a contempt hearing for her in MI, but we failed to serve her properly so we are trying to get a new hearing set up and this time we will have a Adams County Sheriff serve her.
We need to enter the order demanding the return of the child into CO courts. And have it enforced. Also we have a good idea that she will not show for the contempt hearing and we will need to enter the warrent into CO courts too so it can be enforced.
We do not want CO to take jurisdiction over this case. How can we get the orders entered into CO and enforced with out giving up jurisdiction? And how can we do this without having to go to CO. Can a CO lawyer do this without us being there? She is in Adams county CO.

A Colorado lawyer can take care of it without you being there. However, with something so important, plan on jumpin on a plane if necessary. Also, why not see the police about a parental kidnapping charge? It may make it a lot easier for you. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
