Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado
Failure to pay child support
I was ordered to pay child support for my 3 children in 2001, i left the state to mexico to remarry and didnt keep in touch with my children and didnt pay child support . I came back to denver in 2007 and was held in contempt served 90days and ordered to pay lesser amount due to being unemployed, i left again in march 2008 and have failed to pay child support again. How much trouble am i in and can my exhusband still get me to pay even though i am in mexico and owe him 55,000

Before anything else, thanks for writing me at LawGuru.com
You must pay full child support. But, you can reach a new agreement for get best conditions. You can go to Court and explain your situation and reach a new payment plan.
Any doubt or another question, let me know it please.

Re: Failure to pay child support
That is a very bad pattern, and the Court will not be happy with you. It is not impossible for your ex-husband to force you to pay while you are out of the United States, but it will be more difficult. Be aware that should you return to the United States and be served and go to Court again, it is very likely the Court will give you a much longer sentence, order you to pay his attorney fees, and probably order you to pay sanctions as well. The worst of it is that your children are without the benefit of those funds every day while you don't pay.
