Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

International divorce

I--name removed--a Hong Kong citizen. My husband is American. We were married in Colorado. Now we are living in HK. We have a son who is 1.5 month old.

My husband has abandoned me and left my son last Dec. He moved out to somewhere in HK that I don't know. Last week, I know from a friend of his that he was back to Colorado trying to file a divorce secretly. He lied to his lawyer that I am hiding and he couldn't find me by all means. He didn't mention about our son at all to his lawyer also. It is obvious that he is trying to divorce me without me knowing, and so he could escape from his responsibility of giving child and spousal support to us. I currently have no job.

What legal action should I take? Can he just divorce me like that without me knowing or signing any paper? What can/should I do now to protect myself and my son?

Thank you for any of your advice.

Re: International divorce

Inform the court of what you know. He will likely file in the county where he is living. He can probably get the divorce without your knowledge; however, the issues of child support and maintenance will remain open.
