Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

Seeking guaranteed full custody of my unborn child

I recently found out that I am pregnant. I am very good friends with the child's father, but I

would like to be a single parent to this child. He is aware of the circumstaces, however, he

has already expressed an interest in playing a "role" in the child's life, which I have no

problem with. My concern is that I want to be legally responsible for all decisions

concerning this child, including possible re-location to another country. He is ok with

this now, but I am afraid that things will change once the child is born. I would like to

protect my rights as a single parent. What do you suggest? Thank you in advance for your

kind

Re: Full custody of my unborn child

You can file a motion with the District Court in your county to establish yours and the father's responsibility toward the child. (The word custody has been taken out of the statute, therefore, the relevant issue will be the "parental responsibilities.") If there is any dispute between you and the father as to how decisions regarding the child should be made, mediation may be helpful.
