I want my things back

When I was 16 I l was pregnant and lived with my boyfriend and his parents for 4 months. Bad things happened and Sneak out and went back to me mom.. I have custody over my son. But I want my things back and my son's things back and they've been refusing to give it to me for 3 years now. And they still have it, My ex's mom has it. Is there anything I can do to get my things back??? It's worth over $2,000

You need to file a small claims action against them for your property. You will need to be prepared to prove each item you are claiming is yours. You will need to have a specific list. The Court will not give you an opportunity to walk through the house and recall things, so you should take the time to think it over and be sure you have everything of yours that is still in their house on the list.
