Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

Travel costs for visitation

We are in the process of modifying my husband's custody and support order. One of the issues is transportation of the children to and from our home for every other weekend parenting time. His Ex refuses to share this cost by either meeting half way - or picking up after the visit. She says we choose to move 55 miles away. When the order was originally entered. My husband lived over 700 miles away. He has since moved back to the state - first only 10 or so miles away from his Ex. But he found that he could afford better housing and employment 55 miles north. This is an easy drive - less than an hour. We only think it is fair that she shoulder some of this time and cost. What is the law in CO concerning travel costs? Does it matter that we moved away?

Negotiate It Out

The language of the original order will apply until it is changed. Changing it sounds like it will require a new negotiation. Addressing the issue directly sounds like it will be quicker and cheaper than asking the court to deal with it.
