Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Colorado
This 89 year old man allowed me and my family to stay in his cabin. This cabin had pipes that froze and burst, the toilet was in pieces ( the kind way back in the day when the tank hung on the wall) black mold everywhere in the bathroom. This man said that we would have to fix it to make it work for my family. We were there for 2 months, we had given this man 300$ now for letting us stay, on top of what we had paid to fix the place to make it work. We never we told we had to pay but we did because we felt it was the right thing to do. Things started to get bad when that man was in the yard in front of the cabin we we were staying in, started yelling at my boys, age 8 and 9, and they weren't doing anything wrong . We let him know we were leaving and that we would be back for the rest of our stuff when we got established. He said it would be there when you are ready for it. So now I go to get it and nothings there and he says he moved it to storage and that we owe him money(which we don't, we paid him for his place cuz we felt it was right not cuz he was renting it) and won't let me get our stuff. What can I do legally to get my stuff? And was it legal for him to move my stuff?

You will want to file a replevin action to get a court order requiring him to turn over your property to you.
