Is it legal to audio tape someone without their knowledge? This was a co-worker in the workplace.

It is not against the law to audio tape a person in a public setting without their knowledge.

The use of the audio tape, on the other hand, can become an issue in the criminal law, if presented for purposes of extortion or some similar illegal use.
