Before we can fully understand your question and assist you we would need further information regarding the "Code of Conduct" rules at your school. If I understand it correctly, they are stating that the possession rules began at the time you brought the Ipod to the school. And, it is against school rules to have possession of this item all-together. Additionally, no one can be held responsible if the item is lost or damage, if the item is removed as a result of COC violations. If this is the case, there is very little you can do. Is it against the Code of Conduct to have possession on school campus? If yes, the only way to avoid this situation in the future is to avoid use of this item on campus all-together and it common practice to experience thief of these items.

If your teacher took your ipod, and the ipod was stolen while under his or her control, your teacher is responsible for its safekeeping. Ask your parents to demand an accounting from the school as to how this could have happened. They must take reasonable measures to secure anything they take from you. If the school will not respond satisfactorily, ask your parents to complain to the superintendent first. If you still get no satisfaction, ask them to sue the teacher as an individual in small claims court.
