Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Colorado

Uninsured motorist auto accident

I'm in Colorado and was rear ended here by a driver who immediately left the scene. I was able to get the license plate number, which was on a Montana license plate. My insurance company found that the vehicle's insurance was expired, and the local police found the registered owners name and address. That is as far as it has gone. What can I do to have my car repair paid for by this person?

Hit and run is a crime. You should press the local (local to where the hit and run took place) police to file charges. Restitution will be a requirement of any plea bargain or conviction.

Good luck.
