Legal Question in Immigration Law in Colorado
I was on H4 visa in USA. I took training with a training and placement company. The owner had promised me to place me within 4 weeks after training and he told he would sponsor my H1 work visa. I paid $550 for training and after 4 weeks he said i have to go on F1 visa so that he could place me on CPT. He also gave me details of the university which offered CPT and assured that it is perfectly legal to work on CPT. He also gave contacts of people who had gone on F1 with that university. I also changed my status from H4 to F1 and within a few days the university was raided and shut down saying it was fraudulent. I went out of status. I incurred a huge loss as i had paid my tution fees . Can i sue the owner of this training and placement company for the loss i have incurred (Change of status costs, and tution money).

You can file a lawsuit against the company and possibly against the individuals you dealt with, but collecting a judgment may be difficult if they are forced out of business.
There is a non immigrant visa available for witnesses to a crime and you may qualify for the S visa if they are being prosecuted.
