Legal Question in Immigration Law in Colorado
Naturalization with an I-751 (battered spouse)
I got divorce wen I was a conditional permanent resident because my wife was abusive. I got help from a non-profit to file an I-751 as a battered spouse and the condition was lifted and I was told by two attorneys that I could become a US citizen in 3 years. I filed the N-400 and my petition was deny. My attorney and the one in the non-profit think that the INS is wrong and I should appeal. Can you help me? Thank you so much.

If you are no longer married to the USC spouse, you must wait 5 years to apply for naturalization.
