Legal Question in Immigration Law in Colorado
Permanent recidency by marriage with military guy
He stays in Colorado, I'm staying in California. He is US citizen and I'm in F1 visa status. He will have to join the military in March 2005 and we are planning to get married before that. I'm studying in California and don't want to move back to CO until after graduation in 2006. We are planning to get married in Colorado
In the purpose of getting a green card in the shortest time, do we need to stay together at anytime?
If he dies in combat, can I still apply for the green card after that?
If he joins the military, can I still live in California finishing my school and wait for him to come back?
Is it better if we get married in Colorado or California (for immigration purpose)?
Thank you

Your questions raise a number of issues so that I strongly recommend that you and your fiance speak with an immigration attorney. Regardless of where you live, you will need to prove a legitimate and viable marraige at the time of your immigration interview, which could be 6 to 12 months after you file the papers.
