You may be eligible to extend your B-2 visa for another 6 month period. You will not be able to work while the extension application is pending or on the B-2. If you want to work in the US then you will have to change status to a visa that allows for work. You should discuss your plans and options in detail with an immigration attorney.

You can apply to extend your visitor status. You will need to show that you both have the funds to remain in the US during the requested time without unauthorized employment and that you have an intention to return to your home country at the end of the requested stay. If you are looking for potential H-1b employment you should be aware that you would need to be ready to file by April 1. If you have further questions please let me know.
