Legal Question in Insurance Law in Colorado

Waiver of Liability
I'm the chapter president of a national 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization. Recently our Colorado chapter incorporated itself independently (and is currently in the process of applying for its own nonprofit status) but still keeps communication and ''branding'' ties with the national organization.
My question involves insurance liability. Members of our group are planning a recreational day hiking in the local mountains on charted low-risk trails. Our chapter does not currently have the funds for insurance and even if we did I think we'd probably just want our people to sign waivers of liability prior to the hike (We're not talking about any extreme activities, just a recreational garden-variety hike.)Is there a (standard?)form we can get to have each person sign waiving liability? If so, is this a reasonable approach? Are there other alternatives?

Consider contacting the National and obtaining an endorsement for your "hike" so that both your chapter and the national are insured.

You can obtain a form "general release" at a stationery store, or ask the attorney who is handling your incorporation.
