Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Colorado

My 17 year old son was involved with 6 other kids in damaging Playground equipment owned by City of Fort Collins. Don't know exact amount of damage but Felony was mentioned. $10,000 maybe. They broke some steps off of a kids play structure.

Police came to my house. My son said he heard noises but was not involved. Later, he told me he was so I called Police to let them know. My son signed statement admitting guilt. Perfect record, good kid. Got summons in mail. My wife's name is Michelle. They had Bekcy (not becky but Bekcy)as her name on the summons.

Juvenile court. Do I need attorney? Does misspelling of Wife's name have impact?

It was mistake to let your son speak and confess to the police. It is always a bad idea to talk to police if you can in any way be included as a participant of a crime.

The misspelling of your wife's name is not material (clerical error). Clerical errors to not alter the effect of a substantive element of the crime.

It is always wise to retain an attorney who handles juvenile criminal law cases.
