Legal Question in Employment Law in Colorado

Feeling discriminated

I was recently interviewed for a position with radioshack. During the interview I told the District Manager I had a misdemeanor back in 1998. He said that shouldnt be a problem. I asked when I could begin working and was told as soon as the background check comes back. The next day I got a call saying I could start working. I was working for about 2 weeks then was told I had to be let go. I called HR department and talked to Senior Supervisor would told me that no one that works for Radioshack has a misdemeanor and that is policy. I am having a hard time believing this I believe there are probably plenty of people working there with misdemeanors. I feel discriminated against and I would like to know if there is anything I can do to either get my job back or even take them to court.

Re: Feeling discriminated

On what basis do you think you were discriminated against? Race, sex, age, sexual orientation? Unfortunately, employers can fire at-will employees on the basis of a criminal record, even if the record includes only a misdemeanor. However, if your criminal record was merely a disguise for discrimination, then you cannot be fired for that reason. Tell me more about your case, and why you think you were REALLY fired. What is your race, age, sex and sexual orientation, and where (which county) did this happen?
