Legal Question in Employment Law in Colorado

I worked for a local oilfield company in October of 09. The company shut down and laid everyone off and I was never paid my last check of $6200 and I was not able to collect unemployment or file it on my tax returns cause it never showed I never worked for the company since I never got paid. I ended up losing my apartment and truck and having to pay alot in court fines for the eviction and repo that would have never happened if I got that last check. The owner of the company left the state and is now running it again in North Dakota and everytime I have tried to contact him I go unanswered. What is the best way to go about getting my pay from him and is there anyway I would be able to get the money back that I have lost due to the eviction and repo.

Assuming you were an employee and not a contractor, you may want to speak with an attorney about a wage act claim. Under the wage act, you make a written demand for the amount due and if it is not paid in a certain time you can sue for 125 percent of the wage claim up to and including $7,500. You can also get attorneys fees.
