Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Colorado

Can I seek restitution

Charge with several criminal offense, after 1 year and several thousand dollars later, the case goes to court with no evidence to convict. Set free and in debt because of legal fees. My question is; Can I sue to get my money back?

Re: Can I seek restitution

The answer to your question, as with so many areas of the law is, "it depends." It depends upon whether or not the prosecution was improperly brought as no evidence ever existed, or just that the evidence originally there was unavailable at the time of trial. Were you acquited by a jury, or was your case dismissed by the court?

These are some of the questions you should obtain answers to from a lawyer in your area competent to advise you. You can get recommendations from your local bar association if you don't know such a lawyer.
