Legal Question in Personal Injury in Colorado

Death threats

I am wondering if you know the legal implications of making a death threat in blog in which the receiver has legitimate reason to fear for their safety. I tried Google, but tried up dry. I am the VP of an on campus organization representing atheists. We recently received a threat for which we have every reason to take seriously. I plan to notify the police in the morning, but in the mean time I would at least like to know what law says about it.

Re: Death threats

When someone is the object of a credible death threat, that someone oughtn't to "plan to notify the police in the morning," or begin a research project.

You should immediately call the police. A threat of imminent death or serious bodily harm violates several laws, including a Colorado statute aimed specifically to protect students.

Don't ask -- tell. Now.

Good luck, and I hope to hell you are still capable of reading this.
