How can I keep my name from showing up on public property records when I purchase real estate? I have a scary ex.

You may consider establishing a trust and then transferring the property to the trust. You will need to contact a trust attorney to establish an appropriate trust and the lender to make sure it does not trigger sale and other covenants.
