Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Colorado

Real Estate

We purchased a home 48 hours ago

and the main sewer line backed up

because it was filled with

construction debris. Is the seller

legally responsible for paying for the

repairs which include jack

hammering the floor and removing

the pipe to clear the debris and

redoing the pipes?

Re: Real Estate

That is impossible to say just based on your question. If there is evidence that this has happened before, then it is certainly an argument that this should have been disclosed. They could also have been required to disclose if this affected other homes in the development and they seller knew about the issue.

Ultimately, it all depends and it would take further review of the contract and circumstances to determine issues. Good luck.
