Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Colorado

Return of Security Deposit

How can i take a landlord to court over a security deposit dispute if they live in california, but i rented the property in colorado? The statute entitled return of security deposit in colorado states the landlord must either return the deposit or provide an explanation within 30 days, it has been over 60 and i have gotten no results from my landlord. I checked into colorado small claims court, and it states you can only sue someone who lives in that county, or is a student or has a business in that county. How can I take someone to small claims court in another state? What suggestions do you have?
